       MQ Administrator

       Baltimore MD

       6+months

 

 

The MQ Administrator is responsible for architectural designs, implementation, standards / governance, integration / deployment, monitoring, root cause analysis and performance tuning of medium-scale WMQ deployments. This includes the maintenance/support of a large number of medium-enterprise systems, problem resolution for middleware integration environment, and installing, configuring and deploying Websphere MQ and MQ software products. Rotation between days and nights.
 
Required Qualifications:

• WebSphere MQ Administration experience (V6.2 & above) on distributed platforms (one or more flavors of UNIX and Windows)
• Solid working knowledge and understanding of Unix and Windows Operating Systems
• Working knowledge within product & Fixpack installations and version upgrades of WebSphere MQ
• Able to administer the product using the command line
• Proficient in problem determination, troubleshooting, backup & recovery
• Working knowledge using MQSC commands
• Working knowledge using Distributed Queue Management
• Working knowledge in MQ channel configuration using different transmission protocols
• Working knowledge of MQ Clustering
• Able to manage, configure and monitor MQ Listeners, Command Servers, Channel initiators, Trigger Monitors, MQ Log files & Dead Letter Queues
• Familiar with MQ Client applications & MQ client configuration
• Able to setup security for WebSphere MQ queues & other objects for data access and for administration using role-based security
• Working knowledge using MQ monitoring tools like Tivoli Omegamon
• Familiarity and working knowledge of MQ Tracing 2, WebSphere Message Broker experience (V6 & above) on distributed platforms
• Should have general product knowledge on the architecture and different components of the product
• Possess good communication and written skills
• Experience with WMB Administration
• Experience with AIX 5.3 and higher
• Strong Unix skills and ability to write and maintain UNIX scripts on AIX
• 2+ years application development with combined experience in MQI / JMS and Java/C programming languages
• Experience with enterprise class MQ monitoring tools such as; Omegamon, Qpasa, BMC Patrol or Candle  desired
• Working knowledge of logical partition management (LPAR's) and virtualization (VIO) on AIX systems
• Able to provide 7x24 rotating on-call support
• Able to work outside normal 8am -5pm office hours including weekends as necessary
• Proven ability design and implement IT solutions that support new applications and business integration.

 Additional Preferred Skills:

• SSL Configuration on WebSphere MQ is an added advantage
• Familiar with PCF commands is an added advantage
• ITIL Foundation v3 Certification
• Working knowledge with small to medium scale environment
• Some experience with WebSphere or JBOSS Application Servers
• Active Secret Clearance
