Position: Dot Net Developer
Job Location: 195 Broadway, New York, NY 10007
Start Date: 3/26/12
End Date: 3/25/13
Submittal rate - $50/hr
F2F required
These positions will be responsible for development aspects of News Processing platform system. Specifically, responsible for design and implementation of various systems that support the News backend with emphasis on the Storage/Search/Retrieval. These candidates must be able to interpret business requirements and create backend development deliverables. The candidate will be required to work with cross functional teams including but not limited to: Product Management, Quality Assurance, and Project Management. Active participation is required in daily and weekly status meetings. The candidates should possess the ability to identify solutions for complex problems.
Essential Responsibilities:
- At least 5+ years experience
- Active application development
- Participates in technical design reviews, functional specification reviews, and contribute to development project estimates, scheduling, test plans, and code reviews.
- Proactively identifies and resolves potential problems/issues including authoring of technical specifications.
- Regularly informs manager on progress of project, identifying risks early in the process.
- Review the Unit test case and the testing approach used by the team.
- Work with the Architects community and understand overall direction for the organization.
- Ensure best coding practices are followed.
Required Skills and Experience:
· Undergraduate degree in computer science or related field.
· .NET C#, C++
· Multithreading
· Candidate should have expert knowledge of: Oracle, PL/SQL, Database Load script's,
· Performance tuning: Tune SQL statements and understand indexing strategies.
· Candidate should have extremely strong background in software engineering discipline
· Good understanding and grasp of Agile methods and practical experience is a must
· Knowledge of building of low latency systems
· Experience with Enterprise search technology – a plus.
· Experience with Metadata/Taxonomy
