Job Description:General Summary:
The Network Operations team is a new team, created to provide excellent, 24/7 first level network support.  The team is responsible to ensure the network remains in compliance with best practices, meets internal design criteria and complies with internal Information Security and Internal Audit specified guidelines.  The team is also responsible for proactively monitoring and responding to alerts and requests in order to provide maximum uptime for the mission critical exchange system.  The team is a driven, passionate, high energy and highly motivated group with diverse skill sets.  The work environment is fast paced and employees are expected to take on tasks independently.  It is critical that the employee have potential and drive to grow their craft.  New ideas and improvement to existing processes and procedures to maximize efficiency and productivity are encouraged. 
 
Typical Job Functions:
The employee is the first line for responding to basic system issues, gathering data, troubleshooting, escalating and coordinating as necessary to resolution.  The employee will perform these tasks using various standard network management tools, internal ticketing systems, and monitoring consoles. The employee will interact with internal customers, engineering teams and other operations teams during events which affect the exchange system.  Analyst will help with root cause analysis of recurring incidents and raising escalation to back line teams as necessary until the problem is resolved.
·         Initial Response and troubleshooting of HP Open View and other monitoring tool alarms 
·         Work closely with all Operations and Engineering teams to make sure that all network systems are available and working properly.
·         Apply standardized LAN device port configurations
·         Assign and maintain IP inventory in IP database tool
·         Interfacing and providing feedback to network monitoring tools group
·         Certifying new network gear is properly monitored through failure testing
·         Maintain required spare hardware inventory at proper code revision levels in burn-in
·         Work on various first level projects and tasks as required
·         Establish knowledge base, document standard config templates and standard operating procedures
·         Ensure smooth hand offs between shifts
 
Potential Advanced Job Functions (1+ year out):
·         Troubleshoot customer connectivity issues and a focus on providing customers technical assistance and guidance
·         Work  directly with subscribers and service providers to troubleshoot network configuration issues and provide testing support
·         Use network monitoring tools to troubleshoot customer issues pertaining to connectivity, network routing and market data
  • Install and upgrades computer software and network equipment
  • Analyzes and takes corrective action under supervision of senior network engineers
·         Works directly with customers, senior level team members and project managers
 
Requirements:
·         Very organized and detail oriented, with high degree of accuracy and follow-up
·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·         Self-motivated, reliable team player
·         Must possess desire to learn new technologies
·         Bachelor's Degree in IT or related field
·         Strong understanding of network concepts, TCP/IP stack and common Internet protocols
·         Cover weekend testing events as required
·         Ability to work in collaborative high pressure environment
·         This position requires a Cisco CCNA certification or equivalent demonstrated skill level through experience
·         Consistently work to enhance system performance and systems availability
·         Development and audit network system policies and procedures
·         Knowledge of financial trading systems and trade reporting methodologies including  their general design, architecture, protocols, and the customer's access requirements is a plus
